Se queres começar uma vida nova, tens de desistir da antiga.
A assim se inicia a viagem de uma vida para os oito membros da Roc Kidz Crew. Numa carrinha colorida, este despretensioso grupo multicultural ruma ao sul na descoberta de uma nova vida. Roc Kidz Crew é um grupo de break dance que compreende 6 nacionalidades diferentes e descobriu esta forma particular de dança algures entre os anos 80 e 90. Um é artista solo no Cirque Du Soleil, outro consagrou-se no jogo B-Boy para a Playstation, tendo ganho o prémio de campeão do mundo e consequentemente entrado num blockbuster filme de dança de Hollywood. A sua viagem é já inesquecível, tendo incomensuravelmente enriquecido a vida destes bailarinos.
Eis que chega o momento. Os oito bailarinos deixam para trás a sua vida comum, saem dos seus apartamentos, vendem os seus bens e, de mochila ao ombro, partem numa nova direcção – juntos como melhores amigos, como um bando, como bailarinos. Esta não é uma viagem que vá encher os seus bolsos ou trazer-lhes fama; mais que isso, trar-lhes-á emoção – e a comoção de muitos.
A questão punha-se: para que dançamos nós? E para quem dançamos? De que estamos realmente à procura? Uma viagem, uma vida, que consista apenas no preenchimento das mais básicas necessidades e na constante surpresa e vivência de experiências positivas em seja qual for o país por onde o grupo passe. Está claro desde início que esta viagem virá a ser uma importante experiência para cada membro do grupo. Há por isso sempre uma câmara presente filmando esta road trip pelo sul da Europa.
If you want to start a new life, first you have to give up the old one.
And so begins the journey of a lifetime for the eight members of Roc Kidz Crew. Unspectacular in a colourfully painted bus, this multicultural group heads south on the search for a new life. Roc Kidz Crew is a break dance group comprising 6 different nationalities, all of whom discovered this particular form of dance sometime between the 1980s and 1990s.
One is a solo artist at the Cirque Du Soleil, another has been immortalised in the Playstation game B-Boy, equipped with the title of world champion and a date with a Hollywood blockbuster dance film. Their journey is already unforgettable; it has already enriched the life of these dancers immeasurably.
But then the moment came. The eight dancers left behind their ordinary life, quit their flats, sold their surplus belongings in order to shoulder a rucksack and set off in a new direction – together as best friends, as a crew, as dancers. It’s not a journey that will fill their pockets or bring them fame, but more than that, it will bring them heart – and the hearts of others. The question stood before them: what are we dancing for? And for whom? What is it that we’re really looking for? A journey, a life, which consisted only of the bare necessities and was full of surprises and positive experiences in whatever country the group happened to be passing through.
That this journey will be an important experience for each member was clear from the start. That’s why a camera was always present; filming this special road trip that mainly traversed southern Europe.
