Tendo estudado pintura e fotografia, o trabalho de Mafalda Marques Correia encontra-se entre as duas disciplinas: fotografia, pela técnica de produção e pela natureza dos elementos que compõem a imagem; pintura, pela estética e processo de composição de cada peça. Nesta exposição foram reunidos vários grupos de trabalhos que partilham um mesmo elemento que, embora não ocupe uma temática central, é recorrente nas imagens da artista: a casa. Esta exposição intitula-se “Welcome to my Home”, título partilhado com a série mais recentemente produzida, e que se adequa também a esta primeira exposição pública individual, uma vez que a galeria se transforma, durante este período, na casa que acolhe um imaginário próprio e no qual o visitante é convidado a entrar.

Having studied painting and photography, the work of Mafalda Marques Correia is between the two disciplines: photography, because of the production technique and the nature of the elements that are used to make the picture; painting, by the aesthetics, construction and composition process of each piece. This exhibition presents several series that share a common element: the house, although it doesn’t occupy a central theme, it is always presented in the artist’s images. This exhibition is named “Welcome to my Home”, a title shared with the more recently produced series, which also fits to this first public individual exhibition, where the gallery is transformed during this period, in a place that hosts a singular imaginary and in which the visitor is invited to enter.

MAFALDA MARQUES CORREIA

Mafalda Marques Correia licenciou-se em Belas Artes – Pintura em 2003, na Faculdade de Belas Artes do Porto, e pós-graduou-se em Estudos de Fotografia em 2005, no IADE em Lisboa. Em 2010 concluiu o Mestrado em Pintura, na Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa, cidade onde actualmente vive e trabalha.

Mafalda Marques Correia graduated in Fine Arts – Painting in 2003, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Oporto, and post-graduated in Photography Studies in 2005, at IADE in Lisbon. In 2010 completed a Master degree on Painting, at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, the city where she currently lives and works.
